Clemitsons in Canada
The Canadian Clemitsons are all from "branch 1" of the family.
They are descendants of Robert Midgley Clemitson, who was born 15.02.1843, in Hexham. Robert's father, Thomas Clemitson, was a merchant, and Robert was one of 11 children, of whom only 4 survived into adulthood.
At sometime in the 1860s, he left Hexham, went overseas, and settled in Canada, where he was instrumental in the establishment of the settlement of Grande Prairie, now known as Westwold.
